*** Club meets September through June***
The Evergreen Writer’s Club is looking for new members. If you fancy yourself a writer, we would like to hear from you. You need not have a background in writing, although we do welcome those who do have. We would consider any such talent a great contribution to the Club.
We are as diverse a group of people as you might meet at the Evergreen, but we are all bound by a common desire, we like to write and share what we have written. Our focus is non-academic insofar as our twice monthly meetings are not of a class room variety.
We use poetry, prose, stories, memoirs and narratives to express ourselves via the written word. A friendly atmosphere pervades and we are non-critical of anybody’s work. We are all agreed that the act of writing keeps the cerebral and creative juices flowing. As seniors, we need to keep our minds as active as our bodies in order to maintain a good balance in our overall well-being. Writing challenges are often given to achieve this purpose.
The atmosphere we try to create is one that we hope helps to overcome timidity and apprehension. Nobody in our small group bites, nor has ever been known to as far as we are aware.
We meet at 1:00pm in the Boardroom on the second and fourth Thursday of each month September through June. Sessions last approximately 2 hours and we do collect a levy of $2.00 per session. There is no joining fee other than you do need to be a GWSA member in good standing. You are more than welcome to attend and participate in your first meeting at no cost.
If you would like more information or if you have any questions about the Writer’s Club, please contact Ross Coulter at 519 821 3993.
