This mixed choir of almost 50 men and women performs throughout the year. From September to December we practice every Friday afternoon and we sing at local Christmas events. We welcome new members at any time. We sing for fun and fellowship.
The Silvertones Choir was formed in 1980. This active group of men and women aged 55+ share a love of singing and having fun, enjoying songs old and new. They also love to entertain others with their singing and to spread cheer and happiness.
For the 2017/18 season we welcome back our new Director, Ann Sneyd, an accomplished musician and choral director. We are happy to welcome back our popular pianist, Mary Lynn Woods.
Our program for the 2016-17 season included two very special events and a series of sing-outs at local retirement homes. The first has been named “The Day Before” on November 10 and was a Service of Remembrance, complete with war pictures, music, interviews with some World War II Veterans as well as some photos from different parts of Canada. It is hoped that we can continue with this in the years ahead. The second was the Annual Christmas Variety Show, which ran on November 30, December 1 and 2. The 2017-18 schedule will include these two events as well. Beginning in 2018, the Silvertones will visit several local seniors’ retirement homes with a series of sing-outs. The schedule is shown below.
