***Club meets from May to September***
The GWSA Canoe Club meets on Thursday mornings between May and September. With approximately twenty five members, we offer a collegial experience that combines physical activity with an opportunity to view the flora and fauna of the Grand River watershed. There may be anywhere from 4 to 8 canoes on a trip.
Thanks to the support of the GWSA, we own six canoes and a “six-pack’ trailer. Some of our members own their own canoes. Our usual outing is a 2-3 hour paddle on the Grand, Speed, Eramosa or Conestoga River. Occasionally we go further afield. Before returning, we enjoy a picnic lunch together, al fresco.
Our 2016 season begins with a “Meet and Greet” on the evening of Thursday, April 7, at 6:30 pm at the Evergreen Seniors Community Centre. Dry-land training continues on Thursday evenings in April. In early May, training sessions on the water will be conducted on Thursday mornings. Safety on the water is our number one priority.
Application forms are available at the front desk of the Evergreen Seniors Community Centre.
