Update: Monday March 30 at 3:10 pm
On March 26, Mayor Cam Guthrie declared a state of emergency for Guelph in response to COVID-19. Marianne Walker, Chief Executive Officer of Guelph General Hospital has told us, “The most important way the community can support us right now is by practicing relentless social distancing.” Scott Stewart, Guelph’s Chief Administrative Officer explains, ““This is a clear signal that people need to stay home. We’ve closed what we can, and we’re relying on everyone in our community to do their part to slow this down. Don’t leave your homes unless you really need to. Shop for groceries once a week. Don’t go to the hardware store unless you’re there to get stuff for a home emergency. We’re all in this together.”
If you crave social contact, we encourage you to pick up your phone, send an email, or try FaceTime, Skype, or Zoom. In addition, we’ve collected some free things you can try, individually or connected to others, all from the comfort and safety of your home.
