GWSA COVID-19 Pandemic Response: Update- March 13, 2020
To protect members and minimize potential exposure, the Guelph Wellington Seniors Association will suspend all face-to-face programs and activities from 8:00 am Saturday, March 14 until they can be safely resumed. We will continue to assess the situation pertaining to the COVID-19 pandemic and will update this information as the situation evolves.
This responds to the best current knowledge we have from official sources. The Ontario Medical Officer of Health has recommended that all Ontarians should practice social distancing as much as possible to manage the spread of the novel coronavirus, and that all public gatherings of over 250 be avoided. The GWSA often has upwards of 500 people from a defined high-risk population using the facilities daily and we want to keep them safe.
Minimizing the impact of social isolation is one important consideration, and our response team will explore how we can best support those of our members who are particularly vulnerable. The GWSA will assess other possibilities for meetings and activities, including teleconferencing and videoconferencing options, and will share information promptly when available. We recognize the value of our Community Support Services (CSS) and will keep you informed on any changes we can make to minimize disruption to those programs.
This situation has been changing rapidly. We recognize that members need to be kept informed, and will update this web site regularly as information changes.
